NVSU takes part in the Arctic Arts Summit 2019 in Finland On June 3-5, 2019, Svetlana Kravchenko, Head of the Department for Architecture, Design and Decorative Arts, and Victoria Kondratyeva, Academic Mobility Coordinator of the International Office, took part in the international Arctic Arts Summit 2019. Organized by the international association Universities of the Arctic, the event was held at the University of Lapland in Rovaniemi (Finland).
The summit has attracted more than 400 teachers, researchers, artists, designers from Russia, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Canada, Great Britain, Greenland, the USA, Iceland, Denmark, etc.
During the first day of the summit, NVSU members joined the members of The Arctic Network of Sustainable Art and Design for the session, where they presented Nizhnevartovsk State University and its Department for Architecture, Design and Decorative Arts. NVSU has been the network member since March 2019. |

Final Research and Practical Conference “Intercultural Dialogue and Collaboration of the EU and Russia: Implementation of Jean Monnet Projects at NVSU” On April 15-19, NVSU held the Final Research and Practical Conference “Intercultural Dialogue and Collaboration of the European Union and Russia: Implementation of Jean Monnet Projects at Nizhnevartovsk State University”.
Held with the view to summarize and transmit the results of Jean Monnet projects implemented at Nizhnevartovsk State University, the conference was aimed at boosting up knowledge about the European integration and the issues of the EU environment, history, economics and legislation.
The conference objectives included bringing the European dimension to the educational process of NVSU, sharing experiences on teaching and research related to the European Union, stimulating the students and teaching staff to participate in European scientific and technological cooperation programs, raising awareness of the Erasmus+ and Jean Monnet programs, reinforcing the dialogue between the academic environment and the professional community, consolidating the efforts of professional communities in the effective implementation of the best EU practices, stimulating teaching, research and discussion activities on EU related issues, increasing the student and staff mobility study the EU experience, and increasing the level of academic knowledge on the European integration. |

Panel Session 3 “The European Union Practices of Standardization in Quality Management Systems” within Final International Research and Practical Conference During the Session, the participants focused on the results of the Jean Monnet Module "Standardization in Product Quality Management: EU Experience and Cooperation Prospects". The Session was aimed at discussing European and international experience in implementing and applying quality standards, considering the cooperation prospects for Russia.The Session provided for both in-person and virtual participation. The issues under discussion included raising awareness of standardization importance for the Russian, European and global economies; studying the EU experience in developing an internal market based on the modernization of national standards; developing the quality management system based on harmonized standards. |

Panel Session 4 “New Challenges of Green Economy: Practices of the European Union and Russia” within Final International Research and Practical Conference Panel Session “New Challenges of Green Economy: Practices of the European Union and Russia” was held on April 17, 2019, as part of the Final International Research and Practical Conference “Intercultural Dialogue and Collaboration of the European Union and Russia: Implementation of Jean Monnet Projects at Nizhnevartovsk State University”.
Aimed at discussing eco-oriented business within the concept of sustainable development, the Session included such issues as environmental education and awareness within sustainable development of society; environmental entrepreneurship; European experience and approaches in developing green skills in business; ecological marketing as a modern concept and potential for business development; and Russian green business practices. |

Panel Session 5 “Social Europe and the European Union social policy” within the Final International Research and Practical Conference On April 18, 2019, Nizhnevartovsk State University held Panel Session 5 “Social Europe and the European Union social policy” within the Final International Research and Practical Conference “Intercultural Dialogue and Collaboration of the European Union and Russia: Implementation of Jean Monnet Projects at Nizhnevartovsk State University”.
At the Session, much attention was paid to the results of the Jean Monnet Module “The European Union Social Policy”. The participants discussed key issues of social policy organization in the European Union, possibilities of using the EU experience of social security, social insurance and social protection in Russia. |

Student Forum “Erasmus” Generation at NVSU” On April 16-19, NVSU held hosted the student forum ““Erasmus” Generation at NVSU”. The events of the forum were aimed at expanding knowledge of the European integration processes and issues related to the environment, history, economics and legislation of the European Union. The forum was moderated by Marina Stepanova, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of NVSU Department for Linguistics and Translation, and Simon Bødker Andersen, International Coordinator, Lecturer at the Department of Social Education, University College of South Denmark (Denmark). The forum’s objectives included deepening knowledge about European integration, introducing the European dimension into the educational process of NVSU, raising awareness of the European Union’s Erasmus+ Programme and Jean Monnet Activities, boosting interest among students and faculty members towards participation in the EU funded programmes and enhancing student and staff mobility. |

Open lecture on Social Profile of Migrants in the European Union within Jean Monnet Module NVSU continues to implement Jean Monnet Module “The European Union Social Policy”, № 574865-EPP-1-2016-1-RU-EPPJMO-MODULE within Erasmus+ Programe supported by the European Commission.
During the Week of Science in NVSU, Lala Yakubova, the Head of Department for Document Science and General History and Module Academic Coordinator, delivered an open lecture on the Social Profile of Migrants in the European Union.
Today, migration is among top agenda issues not only in Europe, but also worldwide, therefore, the lecture aroused much interest among the listeners.
Due to mass migration to EU countries in 2015-2017, social and cultural integration of migrants is a key challenge involving many aspects, including employment of young, senior and low-qualified legal migrants.
The lecture addressed reasons and peculiarities of migration, major principles of the EU migration policy, and social profile of migrants in the EU countries, namely, their level of education, income, gender and age, employment specifics in various EU countries, as well as prospects for cultural integration.
The event was attended by NVSU bachelor, master and postgraduate students and members of the teaching staff. |

NVSU student has won contests of the Russian Youth Union of Economists and Financiers Students of NVSU Department for Commerce and Management have won the 2018 competition arranged by the Russian Youth Union of Economists and Financiers. The project of Dinara Sadykova, developed within Jean Monnet Module project “Developing Green Skills for Entrepreneurship and Business Based on the EU Experience” (Project No 587650-EPP-1-2017-1-RU-EPPJMO-MODULE), took the first prize of the 4th International Competition of Programs and Projects “Future of Planet Earth”.
The project was developed within the course of Marketing Research and supervised by Oksana Kozlova, Doctor of Economics, Professor at the Department for Commerce and Management, who was awarded a diploma for her research and academic advice.

Seminar “UNESCO World Natural Heritage in Russia and the European Union” held in NVSU Nizhnevartovsk State University continues to implement the international Jean Monnet Project “Using European Best Practices for Biodiversity Assessment and Conservation in Russia” (Promoting biodiversity) / 600034-EPP-1-2018-1- RU-EPPJMO-PROJECT / BIOCON, supported by the European Commission.
The project is coordinated by Tatiana Storchak, Associate Professor, Candidate of Biological Sciences (PhD), Head of Department for Ecology, and Irina Pogonysheva, Candidate of Biological Sciences (PhD), Assistant Professor at the Department for Ecology.
As a part of the project, NVSU Faculty of Ecology and Engineering held the Seminar “UNESCO World Natural Heritage in Russia and the European Union” on February 20, 2019.

NVSU will hold the Final International conference dedicated to implementation of Jean Monnet Projects The conference aims to promote studies of and research on the EU integration relating to the fields of ecology, history, economics and law, draw conclusions and present outcomes of the Jean Monnet projects implemented by Nizhnevartovsk State University.
Conference objectives
1. Introduce the European dimension in the educational process of Nizhnevartovsk State University.
2. Exchange experiences on the EU-related teaching and research.
3. Boost interest among students and faculty members towards participation in the EU funded programmes.
4. Raise awareness of the Erasmus+ Programme and Jean Monnet Activities.
5. Foster dialogue between academic and business communities.
6. Consolidate efforts of professional communities to effectively implement the best EU practices.
7. Promote teaching, research and discussion of the EU-related issues
8. Enhance student and staff mobility to study the EU experience and deepen knowledge of the European integration.

Varna University of Management to become a NVSU partner NVSU has signed a memorandum of understanding and an inter-institutional agreement with Varna University of Management (Varna, Bulgaria) under the European Union Erasmus+ Program (Key Action 1: Individuals mobility of students and teachers).
NVSU and Varna University of Management are planning the following cooperation:
• inbound, outbound mobility of teaching and university staff;
• joint research;
• participation in seminars, conferences, symposia.
A most prestigious business school in Central and Eastern Europe, Varna University of Management has been providing training highly qualified professionals of business administration, tourism, hotel business, computer technology, cooking and gastronomy for over 20 years. All courses here are taught in English, which is the university has become a popular study destination for students from more than 30 countries. |

A business simulation game held at NVSU within a Jean Monnet project In November, 2018, NVSU held a business simulation game within the courses of Standardization in Product Quality Management: EU Experience and Cooperation Prospects and Strategic Management for 3rd and 4th year students. The game was arranged and directed by Inna Volkova, Professor of the Department for Commerce and Management.
This business simulation game contributed to the active study of educational material, practice of skills, and the ability to search for the required information, make decisions and forecast.
The students received a great opportunity to practice modern ways of business and management, apply the knowledge and skills mastered within the study courses and develop business strategies with an account for national and international standards.
The jury of the game included NVSU graduates of the Faculty of Economics and Management, now actively involved in business, management and entrepreneurship. |

Jean Monnet-2018 officially launched in Brussels Jean Monnet-2018 projects were officially launched in Brussels. The meeting was attended by representatives of projects selected within the call for proposals (EAC / A05 / 2017), representatives of the Executive Agency for Education, Audiovisual and Culture (EACEA) and colleagues from the European Commission. The Jean Monnet team of the Executing Agency held information sessions answering numerous questions on the operational and financial aspects of the projects. At the meeting, representatives from Russia and other countries shared their experience of project implementation and discussed cooperation prospects.
In 2018, Nizhnevartovsk State University received the European Commission financial support in two Jean Monnet program actions within the call of proposals. In Brussels, the university was presented by Tatiana Storchak, Head of the Department for Ecology, Faculty of Ecology and Engineering.

A meeting of Erasmus+ Student and Alumni Association held at NVSU NVSU has held another meeting of Erasmus+ ambassadors. The meeting was joined by members of NVSU International Office and students who took part in the program and studied at the European partner universities.
Erasmus+ Students and Alumni Association is an association created to coordinate and support Erasmus+ program in NVSU, increase student mobility and raise overall awareness about Erasmus+ program opportunities.
The meeting agenda included the following issues:
• the schedule of upcoming meetings and events;
• dissemination of program results and positive experience;
• information support of the association’s social networks;
• activities for foreign students at studying at NVSU in 2019 (Human Library, Speaking Club and Cinema Club).
