"Experience of studying abroad is really important for my future career. I gained new knowledge about educational systems in other countries and methods of teaching ethnic minorities. Russia is multinational country, and I met children with different cultural backgrounds among my students. Meeting people from other countries gave me insight into their cultures which is highly important for English language teachers and general cultural development of people. Through living in Denmark and travelling around Europe I became more confident of my knowledge and skills, my professional activity, when communicating with strangers and asking help. I got amazing experience of studying and doing practical training at Danish school that gave a deeper look into their educational system . Studying in Denmark is one of the crucial events in my life I'll remember forever."

"Through my studying within Erasmus+ programme I learned to adapt to new situations and met a lot of new people. We had extra Spanish classes with students from Japan, Italy and Belgium. There was a constant student-teacher interaction and some classes were held in the format of discussions. In free time we had intercultural dinners with international students where we cooked our national dishes and tried it together. I got broad knowledge about the culture and lifestyle in Spain, that I can apply in my Spanish classes, and just share my experience with students interested in studying abroad."

"Through my studying within Erasmus+ programme I realized I can solve problems independently and also in a team. Studying abroad is intercultural communication experience which is important for my future career. During my studying we often worked in groups with Spanish students and other international students. I learned to accept different points of view of other students and became open to new ideas because all people see things from different perspectives. Living in Spain showed me you don't have to be afraid of difficulties, everyday activities new to you or studying in another country."

"I enjoy and appreciate the experience of studying abroad. I was impressed by the beautiful and clean nature in Finland. During my holidays I travelled a lot and discovered random new places. I took a lot of YouTube videos about my life in Finland and communicated with local people and international students to improve my English language skills. I had no difficulty adapting to the new environment. It's easy for me to communicate with most foreigners, but it's harder with locals. Finns are closed people, but students from all over the world are really positive. Studying abroad had a great influence on me and my outlook."

"I really appreciate experience of studying abroad. Most of international students lived on campus where I met students from different countries. Despite this we didn't have any language barrier or misunderstandings. We spent our free time going hiking and swimming in the sea. The University and campus organized free events for all students. We often had intercultural dinners and every student shared interesting facts and stories about their cultures. Understanding different cultures allows you to be more open, accepting, and tolerant of other people."

Interacting with different cultural backgrounds allowed me to understand and appreciate other people's ethnicity. I have learned to work in a team and find a common language even in situations when we could not express our thoughts in another language. Studying abroad gave me perspective on how people live in other countries. Firstly, it helped me improve my language skills and overcome fear of communication with new people (especially with foreigners). Studying at university in another country and immersion to the new teaching environment are the best ways to prove yourself you can do anything. Teachers in the University of Barcelona are highly qualified and competent experts who were always ready to support you and gave interesting seminars. Once in every two-three weeks professors of Philology and Linguistics and teachers of language schools shared their experience and studying materials with us. Such experience definitely helps to fulfill your potential. Now I can use my acquired skills in a creative way and take more responsibility in my workplace."

In USC I got familiar with research conducted by the university, its volume and witnessed how much time staff spend on research and how enthusiastic they are during their work on different projects in large teams (up to 10 projects simultaneously). I had a great experience of taking part in brainstorming on publication. It was really interesting and new to me."

"My experience within the Erasmus+
programme allowed to understand myself better.
First of all I realized how many opportunities
around me that you don't even notice or pay attention. But if you maximize all opportunities,
you will achieve your cherish goal. Studying abroad is infinite, new and unique
opportunities. For such a chance you step out
of your comfort zone, inculcate new habits,
learn to see the world another way and think
out of the box. New cultural environment is a difficult but at the same time fascinating way
of comprehending yourself. In the beginning
it's hard, it seems like you are at a stand,
nothing works out and all new is not for you.
But then thanks to new internal changes and better understanding of yourself you realize it
was worth it. Whatever you have difficulties
and negative emotions, positive gained experience takes over."

“This exchange programme gives a
wonderful opportunity not only to learn the cultural traditions and customs of Finland
and improve language skills, but also study
other cultures and languages, make new
friends and gain invaluable experience of l
iving abroad. As for education, the approach
in Finland is different from the one in Russia.
The Finns tend to break a lesson into several parts, so the lessons go by very quickly and
are very intense. Also, they use multimedia teaching aids a lot. At university, students are more or less free to choose the disciplines they study, although, of course, there was also a set
of subjects required for ensure high quality training. Many classes are held as seminar discussions. Teachers are open for
communication; students have computer
classes and libraries. The Finns are very hospitable. The university maintains a family cooperation programme called Friend Family Programme aimed at helping students
get acquainted with the everyday life of the
Finnish family. Within this programme,
mobility students and members of Finnish
families spend time together, plan and
organize various activities, like a family dinner
or trip to the cinema or to the countryside”.

“Having gained valuable experience in teaching and studying in Denmark within the framework of the EU Erasmus+ programme, I would like to apply this knowledge to the Russian reality. The main focus in Danish schools was on analysis, not on mindless cramming or repetition of other people's thoughts. In general, the Danes are growing into very confident people who are not afraid to express their point of view, they love to talk and confer collectively about everything. I think that this is brought up by school. In addition, the Danish education system has got quite a tendency to foster respect for other cultures and nationalities in their children; they learn about tolerance in multinational classes”.

“The Erasmus+ programme was an immense learning experience for me. It taught me to see the European mentality and culture, learn about the existing Russian stereotypes, and explore the famous “hyggelig” – the famous Danish “cosiness”. It was also interesting to study the relationship between children and adults, attitude towards minorities in society, and explore the concept of tolerance. The quality of education at the host university is excellent. In general, the approach to teaching is very different from Russia. For example, one of the advantages is that the students’ ideas are much more appreciated in class than in Russia. Before coming to a certain class, students study on their own, read books and do some research on the subject, which improves the quality of knowledge gained in class, where they spend more time analyzing and designing new products”.

Erasmus + program: Living and Learning Together
01/21/2015 — 06/05/2015
|
“The Erasmus+ programme taught me to value critical thinking and to nurture the ability for creative approach when it comes to various challenges in life (in college, community, etc.). I think that these skills will certainly be appreciated by future employers of students. Also, the programme helped me to clearly see the differences and similarities of the Russian and European higher education systems, their strengths and weaknesses, as well as the ways of using the best European practices at the Russian universities and the importance of cross-cultural communication”.
