The Faculty of Physical Training and Sports is the leading provider of education and research programs in sports, exercise science and recreation.
The Faculty was established in 1994, which makes it one of the oldest faculties at the University. It became the result of the development of sports education in Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous District Yugra.
The Faculty is comprised of two departments:
- Department for Sports Disciplines;
- Department for Theory of Physical Training.
The students are offered training in physical culture and sports. The Faculty delivers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The character of the faculty issues from traditions of education in sports and physical training in Nizhnevartovsk. The Faculty’s mission is to promote a healthy lifestyle as a necessary part of modern life. In order to support the educational process, the Faculty has a sports and recreation center with lecture halls, research laboratories, a swimming pool and several sports halls for training athletics, gymnastics and aerobics, combat, track and field athletics.
Research is one of our priorities and is targeted at the following areas: modernization of higher vocational physical pedagogical education, outdoor games in primary school, rehabilitation of preschool children with disabilities through physical training, recreative sport. The Faculty comprehensively applies the findings of research in physical education and sports.
The employment opportunities for graduates are extensive. The Faculty’s graduates are in great demand in educational institutions, health and fitness centers, children and youth sports schools, sports and recreation centers, medical and preventive treatment institutions.
