Seminar “UNESCO World Natural Heritage in Russia and the European Union” held in NVSU

Nizhnevartovsk State University continues to implement the international Jean Monnet Project “Using European Best Practices for Biodiversity Assessment and Conservation in Russia” (Promoting biodiversity) / 600034-EPP-1-2018-1- RU-EPPJMO-PROJECT / BIOCON, supported by the European Commission.                                           

The project is coordinated by Tatiana Storchak, Associate Professor, Candidate of Biological Sciences (PhD), Head of Department for Ecology, and Irina Pogonysheva, Candidate of Biological Sciences (PhD), Assistant Professor at the Department for Ecology.

As a part of the project, NVSU Faculty of Ecology and Engineering held the Seminar “UNESCO World Natural Heritage in Russia and the European Union” on February 20, 2019.

The seminar was aimed at developing a platform to share experience and find effective solutions and mechanisms to protect UNESCO World Heritage sites in the EU countries and in Russia and to discuss the ways to use the EU experience in protection of natural territories.

The seminar was attended by university teachers, bachelor, undergraduate and graduate students of NVSU Faculty of Ecology and Engineering, as well as experts in ecology and environmental management and representatives of environmental authorities of Nizhnevartovsk and Nizhnevartovsk area.

The seminar included interactive presentations of UNESCO World Heritage sites in the EU countries and in Russia.
