Professor Mark Ruiz-Zorrilla from the University of Barcelona visits NVSU

Professor Marc Ruiz-Zorrilla, the Coordinator of International Projects at the University of Barcelona (UB), made an official visit to NVSU from 14 to 18 September 2013. Cooperation between NVSU and the University of Barcelona began in February 2013 with a collaborative project application to the European Commission Tempus IV 6th Call. NVSU and the University of Barcelona joined the consortium of the project: «Development of Sustainable Labour Market via Career Guidance Networking». In May 2013, NVSU representatives visited the University of Barcelona in order to establish the main areas of cooperation between our two universities. During the visit, both parties agreed to hold a number of international seminars featuring Professor Marc Ruiz-Zorrilla, Coordinator of International Projects at UB. These seminars were planned for September 2013.

The visit took place in the week of International Cooperation between 16 and 20 September 2013. Prof. Ruiz-Zorrilla gave talks at two international seminars – "International Research and Education Projects: Russian and European Practices" (16 September 2013) and "Joint Programmes / Double Degree Programmes" (17 September 2013)–during which he spoke about UB experiences in the implementation of joint educational schemes within the framework of the Erasmus, Eranet Mundus and Eranet Plus programmes.

Following the seminar, an official meeting was held with the NVSU rector to discuss the possibility of signing a framework agreement between our two universities. Also discussed was the issue of future cooperation in academic exchanges and refresher courses, as well as further collaboration in international projects. The main areas of activity at NVSU were considered further during a meeting with the faculty deans.

A special excursion to the open air museum Sibirskiye Uvaly was arranged in order to acquaint Prof. Ruiz-Zorrilla with the unique culture of the Khanty and Mansi peoples. Prof. Ruiz-Zorilla also had chance to visit the Samotlor oilfield and the monument to the First Oil Well.

Prof. Ruiz-Zorrilla managed to find time in his busy schedule to meet with volunteers at the NVSU International Office. Students were eager to learn about student life at the University of Barcelona, what support services are provided there for students, and how popular the University of Barcelona is amongst Russian exchange students.
