Timur Novikov, 3rd year student of Faculty of Economics and Management, has successfully completed his studies at JAMK University of Applied Sciences in Jyväskylä. Timur spent spring semester from February to June 2017 there.

JAMK University of Applied Sciences is an internationally recognized educational institution. The University offers programs for Bachelor and Master Degree, open research opportunities and further training for teachers.

NVSU students have an opportunity to study at JAMK University of Applied Sciences for free within mobility agreement.

Sharing his experience, Timur says that he was determined to study abroad from his first days at NVSU. In his 3rd year he attended Academic Mobility Seminar organized by International Office and learned about various programs available for students at NVSU. He decided to hold on to this opportunity and participate in the call and successfully received the grant.

                                         

Timur says that this experience was immensely valuable in terms of professional development and language improvement. Timur admits that at first he experienced difficulties with language barrier, however, in 3-4 days the problems disappeared as he started to adapt to the local way of living. The best advice for such situations, according to Timur, is to be open and not be afraid to ask questions. Teachers are very open and welcoming, they are always happy to answer questions and guide all the students.

Speaking about the training system in JAMK University, the student says that it is more focused on self-learning, group work and most of the time is devoted to solving practical issues. He also noted that most of the education process is conducted through special online learning management system, and that allowed for better time use and simplified the process in general.

In general, Timur is very pleased with his experience and is planning to utilize his newly acquired skills in future academic and working practice.
