Andrey Kulagin, Vice Rector for Research, and Natalia Penkina, Associate Professor of the Department of Economic, Social and Humanities Sciences, took part in the II International Scientific and Practical Conference Strategic Partnership and Innovative Models for Training Specialists in Tourism and Hospitality by Universities of Russia and China, held in Saint Petersburg.
During the conference, representatives of Russian and international higher education institutions discussed current trends in educational development and outlined prospects for implementing joint projects in the fields of science and education related to the tourism and hospitality industry. Particular attention was given to the development of effective mechanisms for cooperation between universities, business communitoes, and regional authorities of Russia and China.
Nizhnevartovsk State University has joined the Russian-Chinese Association of Tourism and Hospitality Universities. The association was established in 2024 and is intended to serve as an international platform for improving the quality of higher education, training qualified specialists, and fostering scientific and educational cooperation between Russian and Chinese universities.
The discussion at the conference took place in the context of the growing tourism exchange between Russia and China and the strengthening of bilateral ties. Participants emphasized the importance of enhancing educational standards and introducing innovative approaches to training professionals for the tourism and hospitality sectors.
Reference: In November 2024, 20 universities from Russia and China gathered in Beijing at Beijing International Studies University to establish the Russian-Chinese Association of Tourism and Hospitality Universities. The association supports the implementation of the Roadmap for Expanding Russian-Chinese Humanitarian Cooperation through 2030, developed by the Russian-Chinese Commission for Humanitarian Cooperation.
The association aims to become a leading international scientific and educational platform for developing intellectual capital in the tourism and hospitality sectors, improving the quality of specialist training, and strengthening international cooperation between universities in Russia and China that offer specialized educational programs and conduct fundamental and applied research in these fields. The association operates within the framework of the Alliance of Associations of Specialized Universities in Russia and China, with the support of the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
