On April 23-25, 2014, Nizhnevartovsk State University held a methodical seminar Teaching in Russia: Literature & British Studies as part of the international project realized by Oxford Russia Fund.

The seminar was held by Tatiana Lyutaya, Nina Plastinina, and Christopher Simon Lowther, associate professors of NVSU Department of Linguistics and Translation, together with Karen Hewitt, a representative of Oxford University and Executive Director of Oxford Russia Fund.

The aim of the seminar was to introduce the activities of Oxford Russia Fund and its projects in Russia, as well 

as to discuss some pieces of modern British literature and approaches to the analysis of prose, drama and poetry implemented by British university teachers. In addition, the seminar was organized to facilitate the participation of scientists and teachers in the Russian and foreign scientific and educational programs and to develop international contacts between academic and teaching staff.

The seminar was intended for language students and teachers of English and foreign literature.

On April 23, the seminar was opened by Karen Hewitt, a professor at Oxford Institute for Advanced Studies and the Executive Director of Oxford Russia Fund. She introduced the audience to the activities of the fund and told about the project Teaching in Russia: Literature & British Studies and approaches to the analysis of literary works used by British teachers.

On April 24, the seminar continued with a discussion on one of the novels by David Mitchell, a contemporary British writer. The event was held by Karen Hewitt and Simon Christopher Lowther, Associate Professor at NVSU Department of Linguistics and Translation.

At the end of the seminar the participants received certificates of short-term advanced training.
