As part of the German Days in the Russian Regions, a German cultural festival «Hallo, Deutschland!» («Hello, Germany!») will be held from 11 to 15 November 2013 at NVSU. Since it was first held, the German Days in the Russian Regions has become an integral part of German-Russian cooperation. This has been demonstrated in recent years by an enthusiasm amongst regional universities to take part in the application process for German Embassy sponsorship.

With the support of the German National Association for Student Affairs in the city of Karlsruhe (Studentenwerk Karlsruhe), NVSU received a grant from the German Consulate-General in Yekaterinburg to pursue aprogramme devoted to German culture. As a result of this, from 11 to 15 November 2013 a festival of German culture «Hallo, Deutschland!» will take place at NVSU.

NVSU’s bid to host a festival of German culture was approved because of its relevant concept and aim to achieve a wider public awareness.

The aim of the festival will be to showcase the great variety of Germany, one of Europe’s most highly developed nations; to highlight the opportunities which come with a knowledge of the German language and to acquaint festival attendees with different aspects of German culture.

The festival will provide NVSU students, teachers and staff who have an interest in German language and culture, with an opportunity to develop their cultural familiarity.

Michael Postert – Director of Studentenwerk Karlsruhe – and Iris Cserni – Cultural, International and Public Relations Manager – will be among the festival’s guests of honour.

A series of cultural, scientific and educational events will be held as part of the festival. These include:

• The official opening ceremony of the festival;
• A German culinary master class and tasting;
• A concert with NVSU students and faculty participants;
• A tour of the city for guests organised by NVSU students;
• A cross-cultural quiz, "Did you know that?", with questions on German history, geography and art, as well as the history of Russo-German relations;
• A cinema show in German;
• A cross-cultural game, "Travel in Germany";
• A roundtable discussion, "German education and culture", devoted to study opportunities in Germany and cultural differences between our two countries.

The festival aims to strengthen ties between NVSU and the German Association for Student Affairs, paving the way for new cooperative initiatives and joint projects. It also aims to capture the imaginations of students, teachers, staff and the general public alike, and to broaden their understanding of the great wealth and diversity of German culture.
