On May 4, 2015, Nizhnevartovsk State University and the University of Barcelona signed a cooperation agreement. Under the agreement, the parties consolidated their intention to develop mutual cooperation through joint activities and international projects. The parties paid special attention to the development of academic mobility of students, graduate students and teaching staff of two universities.

The cooperation with the University of Barcelona began in 2013 with a joint international information workshop “Scientific and Educational Projects. Russian and European Experience” held in September 18, 2013. The workshop was attended by Professor Marc Ruiz-Zorrilla, Coordinator of international programs of the University of Barcelona. In February 2014 NVSU paid an official visit to the University of Barcelona. Thus, the cooperation between the partner universities is now inspired by new opportunities and starts to gain speed again.
