Migration registration and extension of the period of temporary stay

 What is migration registration?

Every international student entering Russia must register for migration at their actual address of residence and receive an arrival notification. This arrival notification is a document confirming your legal presence in Russia.

 How long does it take to register for migration?

We strongly recommend submitting your documents for migration registration the next business day after arrival.

How do I register for migration?

The procedure for receiving an arrival notification may vary depending on your place of residence.

• If you're staying at NVSU Residence Hall, contact the dormitory passport officer (Nizhnevartovsk, 60A Severnaya Street)
• If you live in a rented apartment, contact your landlord and register for migration at the local migration office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (23a Mira Street)
• If you are staying at a hotel, your migration registration will be processed by the hotel administrator

 How do I extend my temporary registration?

One month before your registration expires, you must contact NVSU International Office to renew your registration. You must have the following documents with you:

• Original passport
• Original visa (if applicable)
• Tear-off part of the migration registration notification
• Original migration card

If traveling outside the Russian Federation or to other Russian cities, students must notify the NVSU International Office three days before the start of their planned trip by completing an online departure application: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSebCiDo7WIimgIJZfDWfwDOtW9aLbmQblev5Ws9hN4yW4x5Sg/viewform 

NB! EACH time you leave the Russian Federation, your registration at your place of stay is automatically cancelled.

Each time you enter the Russian Federation, you must contact the International Office at NVSU for initial migration registration.
