Department for Russian History and Document Science was established on March 1, 2021, as a result of merging the Department for Russian History and the Department for Document Science and General History. Throughout its history the Department has provided training in foreign history (history of Germany, Britain, France, the United States, Eastern countries), records and archival management.

The department cooperates with many national researchand higher education institutions:

-          Russian Academy of Sciences Institute of World History

-          Tomsk State University

-          Volgograd State University

-          Penza State University.

The research activities at the Department are implemented within two research areas, including Documentary Support of Management and History of Ideas and History of Society. Our academic staff members take regular part in local and national scientific conferences and workshops. Each year the Department holds scientific conferences, including All-Russian research conference History of Ideas and History of Society (since 2003) and All-Russian research and practical conference Documentary Support of Management (since 2007). Our lecturers act as tutors and academic advisors for student research.

The Department members and students regularly win local grants, diplomas and awards and participate in various local, national and international competitions and programs, including Jean Monnet Module, DAAD programs etc.

Starting from 2015 the Department has been actively involved in the international activities of the University. Thus, the Cooperation Agreement with the University of Barcelona allowed the department to cooperate with UdB academic staff and jointly work on the reference book "Russian History in Modern and Contemporary Times" for the Spanish students. Currently, the Department is developing a mutual cooperation program with the University of Barcelona.

 The Department is implementing Jean Monnet Module "The European Union Social Policy”, 574865-EPP-1-2016-1-RU-EPPJMO-MODULE approved for funding within the European Commission in 2016. Academic Coordinator of the Module is Lala Yakubova, Head of the Department for Document Science and General History, Candidate of Historical Sciences.
