The Department was established in 2021, as a result of merging the Department for Linguistics and Translation Studies, the Department for Foreign Languages and the Department for Philology and Mass Communication. The teaching staff includes highly qualified professionals, doctors and candidates of sciences, professors and associate professors.

The Department sees its mission in training qualified, competitive specialists which will be in high demand among local and national business community. Therefore, the Department’s priority is to provide high quality educational services in the field of foreign languages and intercultural communication. We are striving to integrate our mission with the mission stipulated in various documents of the EU, the Council of Europe, and UNESCO, which proclaim the multilingualism principle as a fundamental principle of national education systems. We strongly believe that by applying this principle we promote a tolerant attitude to different languages and cultures, and support peace in countries and regions around the world.

The Department works in close cooperation with various Russian and foreign universities, including:
