3rd year linguistics and translation students from the Faculty of Humanities have returned from a foreign training

Ekaterina Abramova and Jana Posudnevskaya, linguistics and translation students from the Faculty of Humanities, returned from Denmark, where they were took part in a one-semester training program. The students, studying foreign languages, say that it was a great opportunity to visit another country, practice the language, and broaden their outlook.

During the training, students participated in various educational and entertainment activities. They performed various projects and prepared programs for other international students, participated in joint-view movies and theme events. The students emphasize a convenient system of student support used during the program: a special assistant, so-called "buddy”, was assigned to support students in various matters. In addition, students were always able to address the teachers and project supervisors. As the girls noted, they really enjoyed the overall warm and friendly atmosphere.

Thanks a good knowledge of English, the girls were able to easily communicate with teachers and other students from Belgium, Spain, Slovakia, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and Japan. They made a lot of friends during their stay and continue to keep in touch with them through social network. Another advantage of the program was scholarship, which helped to reduce the costs of accommodation and stay in Denmark.

As the students observed, the education system in Denmark is very different from the Russian one, for example, there are no exams or ratings up to the 9th form of Danish schools. The Danes believe the schools to be for life rather than for assessments or tests. Moreover, Danish schools focus a lot on social skills and comfortable environment in the class.

The students also shared their impressions of Denmark. They noted that the Danes really appreciate homely and warm atmosphere. Denmark is a very comfortable and peaceful country, so it was very easy to adapt here. People are friendly, responsive and always willing to help. There are few cars and people, and the cities are small and quiet, which creates a feeling of complete safety and comfort.
