International Conference "Excellence in European Studies"

International Conference on the Jean Monnet Program "Excellence in European Studies" was held in Moscow. It gathered more than 150 representatives of universities from Russia and other program and partner countries.

These Jean Monnet Forums are held all over the world. The choice of Russia as a venue was undoubtedly a consequence of the high activity and interest of Russian universities in participating in Jean Monnet Activities. As of April 2018, 56 Russian universities and organizations hold 81 Jean Monnet grants. In 2017 competition, Russia submitted 226 applications for the contest, and in 2018 - 260. In his welcoming address to the seminar participants, the representative of the Directorate for Education, Culture, Youth Policy and Sport, Mr. Stefaan Hermans, noted extraordinary interest of Russian universities and other organizations to the program, and also stressed the importance of continuing and expanding EU-Russia cooperation in the field of education.

The presentation of the representative of the Jean Monnet Unit of the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency, Mr. Santiago Gutierrez, was devoted to the specifics of the Jean Monnet grant management system, the reporting and changes that may occur during the implementation of grants, the dissemination of results and their visual representation. Participants were provided with many useful practical tips and methodological recommendations, as well as examples of successful practice of JM grants from other countries.

                        

On the first day of the seminar, a panel discussion was organized with students who took part in various Jean Monnet projects. Each gave a short presentation and told about their experience, achievements and impressions of participating in the program. All students noted that they received practical knowledge and skills in the project, which they successfully apply in their studies and in their further activities.

At the beginning of the 2nd day of the seminar the participants were greeted by Mr. Hermans, representative of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation I.E. Burulco and the Ambassador of the European Union to the Russian Federation, Mr. Marcus Ederer. All of them noted the importance of developing and strengthening cooperation in the field of education and the special role played by the Jean Monnet Program in this.

Further, Russian universities represented their experience in the program: Voronezh State University, Moscow State University of Civil Engineering, Moscow State Pedagogical University, Nizhnevartovsk State University, Tomsk State University, Volga State Technological University, Russian State Vocational and Pedagogical University, St. Petersburg State Economic University, Kazan Federal University , Moscow State Institute of International Relations (University), St. Petersburg State University.

Nizhnevartovsk State University was represented by the coordinators of Jean Monnet modules: Vice-Rector for accreditation and licensing Denis Pogonyshev, Professor of the Department of Commerce and Management Oksana Kozlova, Head of the Department of Documentation and General History Lala Yakubova, Acting Head of the Department of Ecology Irina Pogonysheva.

The results of activities in the field of international cooperation in various areas of the key activities of Erasmus + in Nizhnevartovsk State University were presented in the report delivered by Oksana Kozlova, Professor of the Department of Commerce and Management.

The report emphasized the importance of the implementation of grants, taking into account the strategic directions of the development of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug-Ugra region, which in the long term makes it possible to improve the effectiveness of the results. Further, the experience of forming a qualitative project management system in the university was presented in the implementation of several international grants, and the possibilities of expanding dissemination results. Also, the results of the interrogation of the students of the course "Green Skills" in entrepreneurship, which unequivocally noted its high significance in professional activity were presented.
