NVSU representatives completed Erasmus+ training at JAMK University of Applied Sciences

From 2 to 6 April representatives of Nizhnevartovsk State University visited JAMK University of Applied Sciences (Jyvaskyla, Finland) within KA1: "Mobility of Individuals" of the Erasmus + program. Associate Professor of the Department of Social and Human Sciences and Tourism, Olga Shakhova and Jean Monnet Project Coordinator of the International Office, Yana Kraychinskaya, took part in mobility with the aim to study European practices of implementing accessible tourist environment and discussing prospects for cooperation in this area.

During the visit Ms Shakhova and Ms Kraychinskaya worked closely with lecturers of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality at JAMK University of Applied Sciences Petra Blinnikka and Susanna Nuijanmaa. The host party arranged visits to tourist places in the Jyväskylä district to study the organization of the accessibility of the tourist destinations. Ms Shakhova and Ms Kraychinskaya visited Solo Sokos Hotel Paviljonki and the resort and health center Hotel and Spa Peurunka. Both institutions are important tourist destinations in the region and meet the European requirements for accessibility for different categories of citizens. During the visit, it was noted that the tourism industry of Finland uses an inclusive approach to determining the accessibility of the environment and strives to make the environment as accessible to people with different needs as possible. The main principle can be formulated as "Barrier free environment is convenient and beneficial to all." Representatives of the Institute also had an opportunity to get acquainted with the resources of the library at JAMK University of Applied Sciences which allowed to analyze European standards and practices of organizing accessible tourism.

                   

An important part of the visit to JAMK University of Applied Sciences was Jean Monnet seminar. This meeting allowed to discuss further cooperation between JAMK University of Applied Sciences and Nizhnevartovsk State University in the field of tourism and hospitality, in particular preparation of potential Jean Monnet Module by the Department of Social and Human Sciences and Tourism at NVSU, cooperation within the module and joint research. The seminar was attended by lecturers of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality at JAMK University of Applied Sciences Petra Blinnikka and Susanna Nuijanmaa, project manager at JAMK University of Applied Sciences Heikki Pusa and NVSU representatives, associate professor at the Department of Social and Human Sciences and Tourism, Olga Shakhova and Jean Monnet project coordinator, Yana Kraychinskaya.
