NVSU representatives have taken part in EU Study Weeks

Victoria Lazareva, academic mobility coordinator of NVSU International office and Elena Fomenko, student of Faculty of Humanities took part in the summer seminar within European Union Study Weeks. The seminar was held on June 23-27, 2017 in Tyumen. This event targeted young people interested in the topic of Europe – Russia relationships and European processes. High level of proficiency in English was a mandatory requirement for participation.

 The European schools are annual educational seminars which are held for active, creative, successful students and postgraduate students who are interested in international relations and are fluent in English. The best Russian and European experts take part in the project of the European schools.


The following notable speakers gave speeches during discussion panels – Sven-Olov Karlsson, Deputy head of the EU delegation to Russia, Jaap W. De Zwaan, Professor of European Law, Nikolay Kaveshnikov, head of the Department for Integration Processes of MGIMO, and the moderator of the discussion – Konstantin Eggert.

Participants of the seminar represented a vast geography of Russian regions – Tyumen, Sverdlovsk, Kurgan, Chelyabinsk Oblast, Yamalo-Nenetsk and Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrugs and Perm Krai. 40 participants were selected from a total of 90 applications.


As a part of the project, participants discussed inclusive education. Anna Mikhaylenko from organization protecting the rights of those with disabilities “Perspektiva” lead the discussion and talked about initiatives that are implemented locally with EU support.

On the day of Energetics, participants had a chance to talk experts from Russia and EU working in the field of Energetics. Tyumen State University initiative group gave a presentation on the nature of oil and gas extraction.

The seminar concluded with a presentation from A. Kasyanenko representing  EU delegation to Russia, who talked extensively about opportunities within Erasmus+ program. Some of the participants also shared their experience of participation in Erasmus+ programs.
