Exchange students from University College South Denmark experience Russian hospitality

2 March, 2017 Nizhnevartovsk State University welcomed two exchange students, Simone Westergaard Duus and Kim Bisgaard Hultgreen, from UCSYD. Simone and Kim are 2nd year Bachelor students and will be undertaking practical training at the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology within the framework of Erasmus+ exchange program (Key Action 1: Learning Mobility of Individuals).

2-4 March students had an orientation and were able to find out more about the city and the university where they will spend next three months learning and making new friends. On the 4th of February students were invited to the Faculty of Humanities, Department of Linguistics and Language Studies to meet students f the faculty, learn about Russia and Russian culture, share Danish culture and try Russian cuisine. Russian students Maria Mel’nik, Diana Muzhbatullina and Karolina Drobinina gave a presentation on Nizhnevartovsk, its history and landmarks. Kim and Simone also gave a presentation on Danish culture and traditions that they are hoping to be able to share in the future.

International office staff and Russian students organized a potluck lunch (a kind of lunch where everyone brings their own dishes to a common table). Students and staff brought traditional Russian dishes that represented different regional cuisines. To conclude the day, all students played Jeopardy game “How well do you know Russia?”

We are hoping that Simone and Kim will have a great time in Nizhnevartovsk and that their studies will prove ro be successful and fruitful. Best of luck!
