European breakthrough for NVSU: 6 projects approved for funding within Erasmus +

Nizhnevartovsk State University submitted 11 applications for a variety of key actions within the 2nd call of the Erasmus+ 2015-2016 programme. As a result of the call, 6 projects involving NVSU were approved for funding.

In July 2016, the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency of the European Commission published the results of Erasmus+ calls in the following areas.

Key Action 2: Cooperation for Innovation and Good Practice

Capacity Building in the field of higher education

Projects in Capacity Building in the field of higher education are inter-institutional cooperation projects for HEIs from the Programme and eligible partner countries. Such projects are aimed at modernizing higher education, extending its availability and further internationalization of education in partner countries. Moreover, these projects are to provide a platform for developing and strengthening the cooperation between the EU and partner countries (and also between partner countries), promote voluntary convergence with higher education trends in the EU countries and develop intercultural and interpersonal exchange.

In 2015, 736 applications for Capacity Building in the field of higher education were submitted, of which 147 projects were supported, including 16 projects involving Russian universities. NVSU joined the consortium on the project 573555-EPP-1-2016-1-ES-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP University-Enterprise Cooperation via Spin-off Companies Network. The project coordinator is the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain). The project will be launched in November 2016.

Jean Monnet Activities

Jean Monnet program is aimed at stimulating teaching, research and reflection in the field of European integration studies at the level of higher education institutions within and outside the European Community, increasing knowledge about the processes of European integration in relation to history, politics, economy and European Union legislation and the EU's relations with other regions of the world. The main objective of the program is to bring the European dimension to the systems of higher education.

In 2015, a total of 1011 applications for Jean Monnet Activities program were submitted, of which 262 projects were supported, including 31 projects involving Russian universities. NVSU University filed 4 applications, 3 of were selected and approved for funding:

1. Jean Monnet Module - Interaction of environment and human health: Experience of the European Union, 574,826-EPP-1-2016-1-RU-EPPJMO-MODULE.

2. Jean Monnet Module - The European Union Social Policy, 574,865-EPP-1-2016-1-RU-EPPJMO-MODULE.

Project coordinator: Lala Yakubova (Department of Document Science and General History)

3. Jean Monnet Module - Standardization in Product Quality Management: EU Experience and Cooperation Prospects, 574,925-EPP-1-2016-1-RU-EPPJMO-MODULE .

Project coordinators: Inna Volkova, Oksana Kozlova (Department of Commerce and Management)

Key Action 1: Learning Mobility of Individuals

Short-term mobility, or Credit Mobility, is student, teacher and staff mobility carried out within bilateral agreements on mobility between universities in the countries participating in the mobility program and universities in partner countries. Mobility participants receive a scholarship covering transportation, visa, insurance and accommodation costs.

NVSU has also received grants in this key area, enabling NVSU students and teachers to join training and internships in two partner universities, the University of Barcelona and University College of Southern Denmark, in 2017-2018.

Nizhnevartovsk State University has been an active participant of various European educational programs. Currently, NVSU is involved in the project Evaluation of Quality of Cooperation in Education Ecosystem as a Mechanism for Building Professional Competencies - Tempus E3M, approved for funding in 2013. The project is aimed at solving a number of issues, including the expansion of practical knowledge of university members concerning new methods and forms of cooperation with employers and the ways of introducing them into the teaching and learning process. On November 7-11, 2016, Nizhnevartovsk State University will hold the final international conference on the project Applying European Practices of Engaging Employers in Educational Activities of Russian Higher Education Institutions and the final meeting of all consortium members. NVSU is also an active participant of the Nordic-Russian Cooperation Program 2012-2015, a cooperation program in education and science between Russia and Northern European countries. Joining the EU Erasmus+ program will promote academic mobility of NVSU students and faculty members, increase the internationalization of the university, improve cooperation with foreign partner universities, as well as develop the international dimension of the university. The results of Erasmus+ call are a real European breakthrough for Nizhnevartovsk State University.
