DAAD in Nizhnevartovsk

On 7 May 2011 NSUH held talks with representatives of DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service).

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is the world’s leading funding organisation which supports international exchange programmes for students and scholars. However, its activities extend far beyond simply awarding grants and scholarships. DAAD’s budget is derived largely from federal funds provided by offices of the German government, primarily the German Federal Foreign Office, but also from the European Union and a number of enterprises, organisations and governments.

More than a hundred people participated in the event, including NSUH students and teaching staff. Students and teachers from local schools (School 23 and Gymnasium 1) were also invited to participate.

Holger Karlson, the DAAD coordinator in Russia, gave a detailed presentation about DAAD scholarship programmes, which offer Russian students, postgraduates and teachers the opportunity to attend languages course and courses in other disciplines in Germany.

Following the meeting, participants had a unique chance to sit the TestDaF Examination (Test für Deutsch als Fremdsprache), the examination for German as a Foreign Language, free of charge. Nizhnevartovsk students and teachers scored the best results in the region.
