NVSU has taken part in the International Conference

On March 10-11, Istanbul University (Istanbul, Turkey) held a conference on “Higher Education and Vocational Education & Training ”, organized by the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA). The event was attended by nearly 160 people, including Higher Education Reform Experts (HEREs) from EU neighboring countries, European experts on education, coordinators of national Erasmus+ offices, representatives of Istanbul University and academic community, authorized representatives dealing with higher education and vocational training, officials from the Turkish Ministry of Education, the European Commission and the European Training Foundation. Russian representatives at the conference included four Higher Education Reform Experts:

1. Alla Akulshina, Director of the Centre for International Projects and Programs, Voronezh State University; 

2. Nadezhda Nemchinova, Head of International Office, Nizhnevartovsk State University;

3. Natalia Vatolkina, Head of International Relations Department, Associate Professor at the Department of Quality Management, Ogarev Mordovia State University;

4. Vitaly Kopnov, Vice-Rector for Research, Russian State Vocational Pedagogical University.

The delegation was headed by Olga Oleinikova, Director of the National Office of Erasmus+ in Russia.

The workshop was aimed at developing the conditions for effective partnerships between institutions of higher education and vocational education. It promoted active discussions between the representatives of the academic community, Bologna Process experts from EU neighboring partner countries concerning the role of higher education and vocational education in the socio-economic development of the participating countries.

The workshop focused on the issues relating to current research and recent innovations in professional education in the respective countries. Improving collaboration between higher education and vocational education should contribute to the solution of various problematic issues, such as recognition of competences and qualifications, providing openness within different sectors of the education system, promoting the development of competences and qualifications at the sectoral level, quality assurance, accounting for educational needs of the teaching staff in all types of professional education. The seminar became a platform for sharing experiences, most effective solutions and best practices in the reforms of vocational education. It also was an effective instrument for establishing new professional contacts.

The workshop groups discussed four different subjects: 

Subject 1: Higher education and vocational education: a partnership for training teachers and administrative staff in the field of vocational education

Subject 2: Higher education and vocational education: a partnership for developing the levels of qualification for the labor market in the field of vocational education

Subject 3: Higher education and vocational education: a partnership for providing qualifications recognition and openness within different sectors of the education system

Subject 4: Higher education and vocational education: a partnership for promoting local development.

The major conclusions and recommendations elaborated through discussions of four subjects above shall be presented at the conference website. The participants were invited to continue promoting the results in their countries in order to hold further strategic discussions at the national and regional levels, which will help raise awareness of the target groups. In addition, the participants were asked to consider developing project proposals on topics discussed within the framework of Erasmus+ project competitions (key area “Capacity Building”)
