The Department for Power Engineering was founded in 2011 under the supervision of Associate Professor Gennady Malgin.

The teaching staff of the Department involves experts and specialists in power and electrical engineering.

The department staff is researching the following scientific areas:

·  Problem-oriented numerical methods for analyzing the dynamics of electrical systems.

·  Methods of determining the parameters of electrical systems for the energy-efficient operation mode.

·  Energy efficiency and methods of reducing electricity losses.

The Department has advanced specialized training equipment and samples of modern professional equipment and devices used in teaching and student practical work at various classes.

The training facilities include practical and student laboratories:

1. Laboratory of electric power and energy efficiency;

2. Laboratory of electromechanical, electrical and electronic devices.

The University being a member of the “Club of Russian and CIS Universities - partners of Schneider Electric”, the students of our Department have an opportunity to join the training programs of the Energy University by Schneider Electric (a world leader in the development and implementation of modern energy management and energy efficiency solutions).

The Head of the Department is part of the NVSU Project Team participating in the TEMPUS project "Evaluation of Quality of Cooperation in Education Ecosystem as a Mechanism for Building Professional Competencies - E3M" approved for funding within the European Commission Tempus IV in 2013.
